Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie: the potters' village, what to do and where to stay
Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie, ten minutes from Uzès: museum of Mediterranean pottery, ceramic workshops, Tuesday and Friday markets, and where to stay.
By Boost Loc Pro

About ten minutes from Uzès, Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie has lived from clay for centuries. The village holds the "Ville et Métiers d'Art" label (a French label for towns of fine crafts) and presents itself as a capital of ceramics: open workshops, galleries and a museum devoted to pottery from all around the Mediterranean. Here is how to make the most of it.
The museum of Mediterranean pottery
Set in the old centre, the musée de la poterie méditerranéenne (museum of Mediterranean pottery) brings together pottery from the whole Mediterranean basin. It is the best introduction before stepping into the workshops: you will understand what you are looking at afterwards.
- Opening hours: in season (from 12 March to 31 October in 2026), every day from 10 am to 12 noon and from 2 pm to 6 pm.
- Prices: €4, €2.50 reduced (students, jobseekers, under-18s), free for under-12s.
- Current exhibition: "Juliette Derel, potière rebelle" (Juliette Derel, rebel potter), devoted to a little-known ceramicist whose work evolved throughout her life. The museum lists it until 30 November 2026.
Out of season, call the museum before coming (04 66 03 65 86): the published opening hours cover the season from March to October.
The workshops and La Maison – Capitale Céramique
At the entrance to the old centre, on rue du Docteur-Blanchard, La Maison – Capitale Céramique is the village's welcome centre devoted to heritage and fine crafts: every artisan in the village is represented there by one piece. It is the place to spot the work you like before going to see the ceramicist in their workshop. The rest is done on foot, strolling through the lanes.
The markets
- Tuesday morning: a producers' market, with seasonal fruit and vegetables, honey, jams, fruit juices, poultry and cheese.
- Friday morning, under the halle Joseph Monier: fruit, vegetables, meat, fish and spices, but also textiles, jewellery and craft items. It is the livelier of the two.
On Saturdays, head over to the big Uzès market on the place aux Herbes: our page on Uzès tells you everything.
Village events
Exhibitions, festivals and activities: the municipality publishes its events in its events calendar. Check it before your stay.
