Around Uzès, every village tells a story of golden stone, cool lanes and shady little squares. Here is our selection to explore over a morning or a dinner, from our properties in the Pays d'Uzès.

Lussan

Perched on its rocky spur, Lussan is one of "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France" (the most beautiful villages of France). Its ramparts offer a 360° view over the garrigue; close by, the Concluses reveal narrow, wild gorges.

Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie

A village of ceramic artisans, Saint-Quentin keeps alive a centuries-old pottery tradition. Workshops, galleries and a ceramics museum: a perfect stop for lovers of beautiful objects.

Castillon-du-Gard

A stone's throw from the Pont du Gard, Castillon-du-Gard charms with its cobbled lanes, its stone houses and its viewpoints over the valley, one of the most romantic at sunset.

Montaren, Aiguèze, La Roque-sur-Cèze

  • Montaren-et-Saint-Médiers, on the doorstep of Uzès, for its calm and its château.
  • Aiguèze and La Roque-sur-Cèze, further north, overlooking the Cèze and its famous Sautadet waterfalls.

How to make the most of them

The villages are best explored on foot: park at the entrance and let yourself wander. In the evening, many have good restaurants. To get around easily, Le Saint Julien and La Loggia d'Uzès are in the heart of Uzès, while Mas de Patou offers a peaceful base in the countryside.
