Uzès in October: market, autumn light and things to do out of season
Uzès in October: Saturday market, mild days, crowd-free villages, the grape harvest over and the first truffles on the way. What to do and where to stay.
By Boost Loc Pro · Updated October 29, 2026

October is the month when Uzès becomes a town again. The terraces on the place aux Herbes still get sun at midday, the Saturday market finds its regulars again, and the surrounding villages can be visited without hunting for a parking space. Here is how to enjoy the town out of season.
The market, without the crowds
On Saturday mornings, the place aux Herbes and the streets of the centre host the main market: autumn vegetables, squashes, chestnuts, the first mushrooms, goat's cheeses and new-season olive oil at the end of the month. Arrive around 9 am, have a coffee under the arcades, and leave with something to cook in the evening. On Wednesday mornings, a shorter market is held in the same place.
The Dimanches d'Uzès in October
In 2026, the Comité des fêtes extended its Dimanches d'Uzès (Uzès Sundays) into October: a local produce day on the 4th, on the place aux Herbes, then a well-being day on the 25th, at the salle polyvalente (community hall). Next year's programme will be published by the town.
October light on the stone
It is the best month for walking around the town: the Tour Fenestrelle, the ducal palace and its gardens, and the Eure valley below, where the spring fed the aqueduct of the Pont du Gard. Night falls around 7 pm, and the pale stone takes on a colour that summer never gives.
Nearby, in half a day
- The Pont du Gard, almost empty on weekdays, and the quarry path at Vers.
- Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie, its open workshops and its Friday market.
- Lussan and the Concluses, walkable without the heat.
- The Duché d'Uzès wine cellars, which have finished the harvest and are happy to welcome visitors.
What comes in November
The first truffles appear at the end of autumn; the truffle market proper begins in December. Booking a January stay in October, around the truffle day, is a good idea.
Where to stay
For a weekend, Le Saint Julien is in the centre, two minutes from the square. For a family, Le Familial chic and its balcony over the rooftops. For a longer stay, several apartments can be rented by the month out of season: see the business page or write to us.
