Walled garden of the Mas de Patou

Here, the art of living is tasted as much as it is admired. Between garrigue and vines, the Pays d'Uzès offers generous local produce: olive oil, Duché wines, goat's cheeses, truffles in winter and sun-ripened fruit in summer. Here is our favourite food lover's itinerary, to enjoy during a stay in one of our homes.

The market ritual

On Saturday mornings, the Place aux Herbes in Uzès fills with stalls: tapenades, honeys, sourdough breads, vegetables of the day. On Wednesdays, a more intimate market takes over the lanes. It is the best place to put together a terrace aperitif, to enjoy afterwards in peace, for example on the terrace of Lou de Laly.

On the wine route

  • The Duché d'Uzès AOP: fresh whites and garrigue reds, to discover directly with the winemakers.
  • Tavel, the great rosé of the Rhône, and neighbouring Lirac: perfect with a summer sharing board.
  • Most estates welcome visitors to their cellars without an appointment during the day.

Truffles and winter flavours

From December to March, the Uzès truffle market draws enthusiasts and chefs. It is the ideal season for a cosy stay: a fire in the hearth, a generous table and villages free of the summer crowds.

Cooking on site

All our stays have a fully equipped kitchen: nothing could be simpler than bringing back something from the market to treat your loved ones. The houses also have a barbecue for summer evenings.
