Swimming pool of the Jungle d'Uzès surrounded by greenery

Listed as a Grand Site and a nature reserve, the Gorges du Gardon unfold a spectacular landscape of white cliffs, garrigue scrubland and clear water, just a few minutes from our stays. Here is how to enjoy them, on foot or with your feet in the water.

The finest hikes

  • La Baume (from Russan): a descent to the river and its cave hermitage, one of the most photographed viewpoints in the Gard.
  • The Gardon trail: easy, shaded walks along the water, perfect for families.
  • The viewpoints from the hilltop villages, to take in the full scale of the gorges.

Where to swim

In summer, the Gardon's natural pools offer a refreshing swim in a wild setting. The Pont du Gard area also allows swimming and canoeing, an unforgettable way to admire the aqueduct from the water.

Practical tips

  • Early in the morning in summer: the heat and the crowds build quickly, and parking is limited.
  • Closed shoes, water, a hat: the garrigue does not forgive a lack of preparation.
  • Respect the site: it is a nature reserve, so leave no trace.

After the effort, the dive into the pool will feel all the better. L'Oustal Di Fabre and La Jungle d'Uzès are ideally located between the gorges and the Pont du Gard. Book direct.
