Swimming pool of L'Oustal Di Fabre

Summer in the Gard smells of warm garrigue and has a sound: the water of the pool when the sun beats down. To make the most of the season, nothing beats a house with a private pool, where you go from a nap in the shade of the plane trees to a late-afternoon dip. Here are our favourite places for a cool summer.

For a big gathering

  • Villa Romana: a single-storey villa on the outskirts of Nîmes, four bedrooms, a private pool and a large enclosed garden, for up to 12 people.
  • L'Oustal Di Fabre: a stone farmhouse (mas) built around patios, with a pool, a few minutes from the Pont du Gard. Up to 11 guests: the ideal place to bring family or friends together.

For a stay for two or a small group

  • Lou de Laly: two bedrooms, a terrace and the residence pool, ten minutes' walk from the centre of Uzès.
  • La Jungle d'Uzès: a designer interior opening onto a pool surrounded by greenery, perfect for exploring between Uzès and the Pont du Gard.

Our tips for a great summer

  • Book early: the July and August weeks go quickly, especially for the large houses.
  • Make the most of the cooler hours: markets in the morning, a river swim at midday (Gardon, Cèze), the pool at the end of the day.
  • Write to us before booking if you are hesitating between two houses: we know each of them.
